Kristin Jordan
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Kristin Jordan is an author, organizer, and abolitionist mental health and housing advocate who deeply believes in the power of radical love for all beings. She was recently a local councilwoman and was before that (and after that) a Black, queer community organizer for change. Jordan believes in grassroots movements and the power of poetry, connection, political engagement, and empathy to make lasting meaningful change.
Jordan is an African American descendent of slaves on her father's side and a third-generation American-born descendent of Sint Maarten on her mother's side. Her roots go back to the "Richardson" plantation (her middle name) on the Dutch side of Sint Maarten (where there are many Richardsons) and back to Jacksonville Florida which is the furthest back her family is able to trace their Jordan roots (one of her ancestors adopted the name Jordan). As a Black queer woman Jordan is living in the intersections of culture, identity, gender, and politics. She dreams of a world without the oppression of jails and with reparations for the generational wealth her family and her people are owed. She believes in accountability and agape love.
